Description
We present the Data Steward Network Lower Saxony, which was created through the initiatives of the Joint Lab Future Libraries & Research Data and the FDM-ndsHAW project and embedded within the state initiative RDM Lower Saxony (FDM NDS).
On the basis of definitions of the role data steward (Seidlmayer et al., 2023, https://www.forschungsdaten.org/index.php/Data_Steward), we discuss the characteristics of the data stewards in Lower Saxony and highlight the development of the network. The Data Steward regulars‘ table will take centre stage as a platform for networking and professional exchange. We also present support services such as onboarding measures, skills development, and other networking opportunities through Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 of the state initiative.
Finally, we will reflect on our experiences to date and provide an outlook on the further development of the network. The poster and our insights might be of interest for data stewards and anyone interested in community and network building.
