Description
Life science research is generating large amounts of data aiming to solve complex biological questions. To support researchers in handling these data challenges, the German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (de.NBI) and its corresponding ELIXIR Node (ELIXIR-DE) provide free-of-charge tools, services, training, and compute resources. Their efforts focus on enabling big data-driven research through easy-to-use bioinformatics tools, corresponding training activities, and the offering of compute resources via the de.NBI Cloud.
When handling big data related analysis, Research Data Management (RDM) has emerged as a key topic in the Life Sciences in Europe. Generated data should be findable, accessible, interoperable, and reproducible (FAIR) within the Life Science research community. To ensure that this data is FAIR, it is essential to create effective structures for data sharing and usage. This involves reaching a consensus on data standards and fostering both knowledge and expertise in the field.
de.NBI/ELIXIR-DE is supporting these processes by providing access to RDM resources and training at both the national and European levels. Further, exchanging best practices and expertise is part of the de.NBI/ELIXIR-DE network and the broader ELIXIR Communities. The ELIXIR RDM Community is one of the examples where RDM activities in ELIXIR have been strengthened.
